If ever there was an example of someone who loves the game of golf, it would be August "Gus" Huelsing. Gus, who is 90 years young, has found a way to continue playing the game he loves so much. A lifetime resident of St. Louis and retired from the heating and cooling industry, Gus didn't even take up the game until he retired in 1982 (at 62 years of age...). He took his first lessons at the YWCA downtown and practiced at Tower Tee. He and his wife joined Triple A where he played pretty much every day for 25 years.
As a Vet (Army Air Corp) Gus was invited to participate in a Veterans Golf Tournament on May 26th at Clinton Hills in Belleville, IL where vets and active duty military paired up for 9 holes. We take our hat off to Gus for finding a way to continue on his "golf journey" and remember ALL Veterans for their service and commitment towards keeping us safe..... many, many thanks.
